Back at the windjammer and charleston showed up!
Some gigs are just gigs. And then there's The Windjammer.
Windjammer - March 21, 2026 - Rock the 90s
This past Saturday we returned to one of our favorite stages on the East Coast — The Windjammer on Isle of Palms, South Carolina — and Charleston did exactly what Charleston always does. They showed up.
Nearly 900 people packed into the beach at The Nutrl Beach Stage and didn't hold back for a single song. The sing alongs were loud enough that we could hear the crowd over the monitors — and for a band running in-ear monitors, that's saying something. Moments like that remind you why you do this.
But to understand what Saturday night meant, you have to go back to March 18, 2017.
We were still Broadcast 90 back then and only a handful of shows under our belt. A young band with a big vision, three members who have since moved on, and a cold call pitch to a venue we had no business calling yet. Somehow The Windjammer said yes.
We walked into a packed house of screaming 90s fans that night and looked at each other like — wait, is this real? It was the kind of show that tells a young band they might actually be onto something. That poster from that first night — Broadcast 90 on the marquee — is a piece of our history we'll never forget.
Nine years later and stronger than ever - now as Rock the 90s. Different name. Evolved lineup. Same mission. And Charleston was waiting.
What made Saturday night extra special wasn't just the crowd size. It was the conversations afterwards. Fans who were there in 2017 and some seeing us for the 7th or 8th time is something we don’t take lightly. Some were saying this was the best show yet. That means everything to us.
This is our 11th year in existence as a band. Eleven years of lineup changes — with Hugh, Lance, and Lewis Smith holding it down as original members since day one. Eleven years of tightening the show, expanding the setlist across the full decade — rock, hip-hop, R&B, and pop, and growing into a nationally touring 90s tribute act playing stages across 13 states. The evolution speaks for itself.
Rock the 90s - First show at The Windjammer, March 18, 2017
There's something humbling about being a band that has built one of its strongest markets 260 miles away from home on the South Carolina coast. Charleston didn't have to embrace us. But they did — early, loudly, and consistently. The Windjammer took a chance on a cold call from a band they'd never heard of, and that relationship has grown into something we genuinely treasure.
To everyone who came out Saturday night — thank you. To The Windjammer — as always, it's an honor.
We'll see you soon Charleston — we're coming back this summer.
Catch us at The Windjammer and Party at the Point this summer. Check our tour dates for details.
